| Ignore the "growths" on the few leaves. An esthetic issue; doesn't damage tree's health. |
|
| Dj, Sorry to say but I don't think that leaf on the photo is a pear leaf. Tony |

| I hear ya Tony, I was doubting that myself after researching a bit, but recall my father planting it (in a bad spot) over 15 years ago and I could've swore the fruit it bore was pear. I will have to look into it further for sure. thanks. |

| I'm with Tony. Looks like something other than a pear tree. |

| I posted in another forum that your tree appears to be a hackberry and that the 'growths' are hackberry galls made by an insect called a psyllid. If you look up hackberry leaf gall, you'll find a match. No need to do anything to control them....the damage is strictly aesthetic. Some people consider hackberrys messy, which might explain why the tree was cut down at some point. |
|
| Hear is a pic of some healthy leaves and of the stems just below the cut. Thanks, I think you are spot on Rhizo. I guess during all of my years away from this place the pear tree truly didn't make it. Sorry about the confusion. dj |
