Make sure they're watered. The hoeing may have damaged enough roots to stress the bushes. And your observation about sudden sun may be spot on. Also most people would advice heavy mulching at this point. That might help hold down the weeds.

I had them mulched pretty well about eighteen inches around the plant, but we had a ton of rain and the grass went wild. I've been tilling out the rows with the tractor and up as close as I feel safe with the rear tine tiller, then right by the plants with a hoe. I have four varieties, ten in each row. Only one has the burned look. Ozark I think is the one I had the issue with.
