Strawberry plants dead?

So most of you probably heard of the lovely amount of rainfall we've had here in Alberta. Because of this when I received my 50 strawberry plants, I kept them indoors for a few weeks, they had a little sun and seemed to be doing ok. Then they started wilting so I got them outside as soon as I could since the weather was improving. Some of the thicker ones put out more leaves but the wilting ones just died. The roots are still there.
So my question is, are my strawberry plants dead?? Or will they start coming back now the weather is good and the roots are good? Should I clear off the dead growth, keep watering and be patient? Also, should I fertilize them a little?
Only started gardening this year and want to hang up my hat already :(

How long have they been planted outside? What's the weather been like? When did the bigger ones leaf out? I had a few leaf out a week or so before some of my weaker plants started to show any growth.

RE: Strawberry plants dead?

Photos would help.

Were they bare-root or potted? When you say "kept them inside" what does that mean? What were they planted in? How deep?
