Has anyone heard of any Asian Pears resistant to fire blight? I have two, a Kikusui and a Shinseiki. Both suffer bad each year. The blight strikes the new growth which is where my fruit would be if I wasn't pruning out the stricken branches. The Kikusui is so carved up I might as well chop it down. The Shinseiki is all lopsided and I may see two fruits all the way to ripening. I have the same problem with Quince and Cedar Quince Rust which this year has almost killed two trees. It also bothers my Serviceberries which leads to very few berries for me. I spray but maybe I need to find a better spray.

Korean Giant is suppose to be fireblight resistant. If I was going to plant one Asian pear this would be my choice. Petals from the Past in Jemison Alabama grows it.

Another pear that I have grown and highly recommend is a pear named Orient pear. It is not an Asian pear but it thrives in my area with almost no care. For over 35 years I have never seen any fireblight on this variety tree.

Yeah, I have an Orient and it survives though it does get Fireblight each and every year. My Magness is the only one that gets nothing.
