Did anyone catch the Wall Street Journal article on Michigan 'tart' cherries last week? Oooph! Horrible news for our friends there. Over 223 Million dollars lost due to no crop this year. The companies that sell Cherry products like 'Cherry Republic' had to import their Montmorency from Poland. Its worse than our pals have told us in this forum. Boy Harvestman, we thought we had it bad! Its all relative, but ouch! Mrs. G

Who says there will be no cherries in Michigan this yeare? All is not lost, my Balaton, which is a bit sheltered by larger trees to the east, has probably 18-20 cherries on it. Woo hoo, livin' large! ;-)

RE: Cherries in Mich.

Yeah...its really bad. Its not just cherries either. The US apple crop I think is going to be a little "light" this year.
