I'm new to having pear and apple trees and was wondering if anyone could identify what's destroying my pears from the photo I posted.and what I could do to prevent this in the future? Thanks in advance!

Boy, I hate what these universities offer the home grower sometimes. In spite of what they write, pear scab is not treatable with the same fungicides that work for apples with the exception of dithane and materials not really available for home growers. Myclobutanil and Captan work great for apple scab, but pear scab- not so much.

Why are they pushing organic? Oh yeah, it's CA.

H-man,

I hope I am not hijacking...

If you don't mind, what do you recommend for pear scab? I have it on my asian pears too. I am pretty sure it came with some trees I received this year.

I was planning on copper in fall and spring. Then Serenade during the growing season. I am not completely against synthetics, but would like to avoid them when I can.

Thank you very much.
