To answer your question, I thought it was dead so I dug it up before I realized that it is not quite dead so I replanted it. It may not make it after all.

I believe that if this past winter was not this extreme, it would have survived well with the protection (burlap and dry leaves stuffed inside).

I am in Central MA in Worcester County, not western MA.
