summer pruning in high heat

Ok,
I have tried a little summer pruning on a peach this year for the first time. It seems to have resulted in some dead wood from sunscald on the wood. That is what it looks like to me anyway. Everywhere I made a cut several smaller surrounding branches died back to the branch. Is this typical in a high heat area? I am trying to limit the height on the peach tree. What are other options? Should I limit my pruning to dormant season? Should I summer prune in spring instead? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hello! You have to prune with care to prevent sun burning in the wood, and heating because borers attacks. Thinning out the watershoots or small branches but, the trunk an the biggest branches, does would be, more or less, shady . Sorry by my English. |

| Thin the wood more gradually. |

| Thanks for the replies. I just summer pruned a Fuji apple as well to see what the response would be. It has never done anything for me yet so no real loss if it has a hard time as well. I think it will take some practice to get this down. Scape |
