Question about 'Seascape' Strawberries
| | |
Posted by ottawan_z5a (My Page) on Thu, Jul 2, 09 at 1:07
I planted two dozen bare-root plants of 'Seascape' strawberries on April 30 and some plants started fruiting at the end of June. I tasted a few ripe looking ones this week and found these as somewhat tart (i.e. not as sweet as my other older variety growing at the same location). I am not sure if it is because it just started fruiting and may get more sweeter later or is it because of the zone 5 location.
Does anyone has experience with 'seascape' everbearing strawberry and more so with its sweetness/tart-ness in the beginning and at maturity? |

| I purchased bare root seascape (along with other varieties) from an organic grower in CA. and I found them to be quite bitter too. At first I thought I was being too eager and picking them too soon, so I left them along til they were really really red, etc. and still very tart. Maybe next year they will be better? I'll let you know ;) |
