Electric fence advice

Every year I lose at least half my peaches to some critter. I'm guessing it's either a squirrel or raccoon, but I dot get broken branches, so I'm leaning more towards squirrels.

All of my trees are too low to the ground to use a baffle around the trunks for protection so I'm thinking about running some electric fence wire around the perimeter of the fencing.

Has anyone done this successfully?

Where should I put the wire? 6 inches off the ground? A foot off the ground? Do I need more than one wire?

My inclination would to put the wire lower than higher, but I want to make sure it's out of the way of the mower if that's possible and still get protection.

I also have traps set up, but I'm worried that once the peaches start smelling like peaches, the squirrels will bypass the peanuts in the traps and head right for the good stuff.

So, what do I need to do to get the most protection from an electric fence?

Thanks!

Bart
