Are commercial Bing cherries coated with wax or food shellac? They seem to be very shiny and wonder if they are treated as apples and waxed?

I've never heard of this in cherries. The ones I've grown have been shinny and beautiful without wax. But it might be done for some varieties/markets.

I have learned here that fruit can color quite differently depending on location/zone, weather, soil, etc.

Bings can range from red to mahogany and maybe even black.

Never heard of waxed cherries out west, either. All commercial cherries here (OR,WA) show up in stores shiny.

Bell peppers are sometimes waxed and the cherries neither look or feel like that.
