| I was out this morning by the container peaches and noticed a lesser peach tree borer on one of the leaves. I quick put a trunk spray on all of my trees (pyrethroid). Am i too late if they already laid eggs or will the pesticide kill the eggs? I applied a trunk spray a while back, but with all the rain, i'm sure it washed off by now. I've had borer issues over the years and have lost a few trees to them. |

| All that I have ever used for borer control are pyrethroids. I would use lorsban if it was available to homeowners because it protects for so long and I believe I read that it penetrates trunk tissues to kill borer larvae. One thing that I have added to my trunk sprays not to be sprayed upon leaves is some form of oil, in particular a small amount of the fogging oils meant to be used in the yard foggers. This I believe has some added merit in the longevity of the spray and synergystic potency only known to me by my good luck with it. |
