Ever sold the wrong tree?

| I bought my first 2 (overpriced) fruit trees from Willis orchards 2 years ago. One died, so don't know what it really was. The other tree, a Bleinehem Apricot produced 2 fruits this year...PLUMS!
Well, at least they tasted good.
Were you ever sold the wrong tree? |

| I think it's fairly common. My only experience was with with a Gooseberry. It was supposed to be Invicta, which makes green fruit, but the fruits were red. The company replaced it the following season. My real worry is about my hardy kiwi vines. They take so long to flower that if it turns out I have two males or two females, I'll be set back several years. Alex |

KeepItLow- The story of being sold the wrong tree repeats itself often here on this forum... especially when people purchase from the big box stores. In this case, it's not all that surprising considering that Willis Orchard doesn't have a very good DGW rating. You might want to go through that list and see if any of the other complaints are of people who got the wrong tree. And, then leave some feedback of your own? -Glenn |

| Any time during the production, distribution and retailing process that propagation material gets mixed or a label falls off/becomes illegible misidentification and mislabeling may occur. |

| Boy has this ever happened to me and lots of people I have known. Lots and lots of people. I have never had a problem with mail order stuff (from raintree, cummins, just fruits and exotics) but lots from box stores and other sources. |

How ironic you are posting this question today! I have been in an e-mail exchange for weeks with One Green World, which got resolved today (or a promise of resolved--we'll see when/if my replacement arrives) Last year I ordered two late trees for my goal of never-ending fruit: a Sweet September Cherry, and an Autumn Rose peach. Got no fruit from either last year. This year, I've got one cherry (which is close to ripe now--not exactly September, but two months after my last normal cherry. We'll see how it tastes!) I also got 6 or 7 peaches to set. From the beginning they looked weird, like buttons. At about half-size, I was pretty sure I got the wrong peach, because they were flat, and the photo of Autumn Rose shows a normal peach. Well, I just ate the last ripe one, and it is either a Saturn or a Galaxy, a white saucer peach. After several e-mails back and forth, I sent them a picture, and they think it is Saturn, and they say they are going to ship me a new Autumn Rose this fall. Which I am very happy about, needless to say! I am upset about the Saturn, because I had it for my "October" peach, and I grafted onto it with that thought. I am very proud to say I got one to take (peaches are hard to graft!!!) a "Fairtime". SO now I have a June/October peach tree. Maybe I can move the graft onto the Autumn Rose when I get it. I will say, though, the Saturn peaches are quite yummy, so another good thing! Anyway, assuming they DO ship me the right tree, I am very happy they wanted to give great customer service!
