Should I mulch the pathways in my strawberry patch?

I use the matted row system, and keep the plants for several years.

My primary reason would be to minimize weeds. I would also help with moisture.

I'm concerned, however, that it would give shelter to slugs. I already have trouble with slugs. Although Sluggo really helps a lot.

Should I mulch or not?
