Ack! Blueberry virus. Can it infect my other berry plants?

Kim Ladin

Hi folks,

I have a little patch in my backyard garden with 4 blueberry plants in pots, and nearby are 3 raspberries, 2 blackberries, and a bunch of strawberries planted in raised beds.

The leaves on two of my blueberries are showing signs of disease, which I think I've narrowed down to either Blueberry Shock Virus or Blueberry Scorch Virus. I've been reading up on them, and the symptoms are largely identical. If the plants recover, it will have been Shock, but if they die in a year or two it was scorch.

I have to decide whether to keep them and see if they ride it out, or destroy them and start over. My biggest concern is whether the virus could affect my other berry plants. Does anyone know?

Thanks!
