| Hi All,
I have a grapevine, not sure what time, but the grapes look to be turning either purple or red.. (We bought 3 grapevines of different colors and lost the labels that tell us which is which) Can you please let me know if my grapevine is dieing? If yes, how can I fix it? There are patches of brownish red growing on the vines right now. I water them at least twice a week and the grapes are still small, but are already turning color...first year with grapes so I don't know if this is normal. here are the pictures... sorry for the not so good quality |

| They don't look like they are dying to me. Just look nitrogen deficient. That could be from over watering. If your soil is good, you shouldn't need to water more than once a week and once a month may give better fruit. Some water deficit increases the eating quality of grapes. They are the among the most drought tolerant fruit. |

| The fruit look fine but the browning of the vines in the second picture may very well be grape cane phomopsis and if possible should be pruned out and sprayed with an appropriate fungicide in the spring. |

| Thank you to both for replying! I really hope it's what fruitnut is saying.... I took a look for cane phomopsis..and it doesn't look like that yet.. however, the areas where the cane is brown/red patched, the leaves are turning color and dieing... if that helps at all... i really hope it's just over watering. |

| If the grape plants are young, the fruit may not be the best the plant has to offer, however...if the fruit still looks the same next year...then you may have a problem. |
|
| The grape plants are 2 years old right now so thanks for the heads up! |
