Picking terrapin scale off peach tree

Hello. I am a fruit tree newbie. In our new home, we have a nice mixed variety of fruit trees, including a peach tree that is unfortunately covered in bumps (terrapin scale, I think). I've read about dormant sprays and realize that I will have to figure out a spray regimen for all the trees in the fall. At this point, though, is there any advantage to manually picking the scale bumps off, or is it too late to do any good? (They come off quite easily, and seem to be filled with whitish dust.)

The fruit is abundant and seems to be developing well, but our neighbor says that in prior years fruit from that tree has been nice but small.

Thanks for your help!

The ones filled with dust are dead. I won't pick them off. You may be a newbie but you are well ahead of many. Get your spray program together including dormant oil and you will be fine.
