Our favorite apple variety now is the Cameo & find them in late Spring- early summer here in Costco & Sam's though they aren't found available as long as the other varieties such as Fuji, Delicious, etc. in these stores (or few of any of the other stores ever either)
My question is: where are these apples coming from (the boxes & bags all say: "Product of the United States") .... last Fall's crop that has been stored? Too early for this season's apple crop, yet the fruit is so fresh, crisp & delicious if indeed they are last year's crop that has been stored!
We bought a dwarf Cameo apple tree & have high hopes of growing some of our own in a couple of years (it bloomed this the second year after planting)!
