| Thomis: Just about any insecticide effective on larvae would work. My preference is permethrin because it can be used up to harvest without much concern. I am not a fully committed organic grower, but don't really like using insecticides on crops like tomatoes. However, with that kind of damage, you don't have much choice. I think washing the tomatoes pretty much takes care of any small insecticide residue that may remain. If I didn't use permethrin on emerging sweet corn silks, all of my corn would be infested with earworm every season. Don Yellman, Great Falls, VA |
