Dear God . . . Why Don't You Want Me to Have a 'Prok' Persimmon??

OK -- I've had it with this -- just need to vent.

I really want one of these --

the first one I ordered last year came out of the box broken off at the graft union.

Stark did replace it. The second grew well in my greenhouse last summer, potted, and went into the ground in the fall. Looked good all winter, even early this spring. Come to find out, though, it was dead above the graft union.

I also ordered another one this spring. It seemed to be doing well -- until I went outside this morning and found it laying on the ground, also snapped at the graft union. WHY, I don't know -- we haven't had any storms or anything.

I think God is just playing games with me -- I keep think of 'Maude' always reminding her husband "God is going to get you for that, Arthur!" back on that '70's TV show.

So, time to go online to the awful Stark bros website (their sign in system is terrible, very unforgiving) and order another one for fall.

Sorry, just had to vent. Now, back to your regularly scheduled program.

You're more forgiving and tolerant than I am.
It did take me 3 tries to get a Bountiful Butternut to grow but they are the only place that has a self-pollinating "butternut" and one of those tries had more to do with the motorcycle running over it than Stark.
One more try and I would've called it quits on them for nuts.

I would either give up on them and try someone else or give up on that fruit.
I've decided bare root grapes and strawberries were not for me from Stark or anyone else. I had given up on grapes for close to 15 years because of my trails with bare roots.

Try just once more but this time stake it well, and tie the root-stock to the stake and the scion part to the stake separately and take care of it well. Then once it grows and start fruting after this much trouble, the fruit will taste much better than it actually is.
