 o
Kotata Blackberry?

I placed two orders for Kotata trailing blackberries from the same nursery but received different plants. That second order contained an erect blackberry variety not a trailing plant, so I knew it was wrong. I was pretty sure my first order was Kotata but after finally tasting the fruit this year and beign disappointed in the lack of flavor, I started wondering if I actually received Kotata in the first order. I'm posting a picture of the cane and leaves, which are distinctive, to get some additional confirmations.

I would be suspicious that this plant is not kotata. The size of the canes look semi-erect vice trailing variety.

Looks like a trailing habit to me. Even a trailing type plant will send up vines that self support for some time before flopping down. This one in the picture looks exactly like my boysenberry vines. The fact that you have to support it along a wire makes me think trailing.

RE: Kotata Blackberry?

I did get confirmation today from a blackberry breeder, that this is Kotata trailing blackberry. I guess the mystery is solved.
