Has anyone had any luck with a solar charger for an electric fence to keep out deer. All of the ones I've seen are not rated for deer, only the hard wired ones seem to be strong enough. I only need it for about a 60' x 100' area.

I use one and it works well but you will need at least 4 wires about about 2ft apart to keep the baby deer out. Although I did not do this, I know someone who put aluminum foil with peanut butter on the fence to encourage deer to make contact with the fence and learn to avoid it. I bought mine at Tractor Supply.

I and many others use a paramak mag 12 to keep bears out of the beeyard. It should have plenty of kick to keep deer out of an area that size. But you do need lots of wires for deer and keeping grass and weeds cut back helps a lot with maintains full charge. Baiting the fence with peanut butter is also recommended for deer, and I think it is recommended to use flagging or some such to increase the wire disability for them..?
