muscadine grape for jelly making

| Question: My grapes aren't all maturing at the same time, and i'd like to know if there is a way to freeze them in small batches, so the accumulated harvest can be used to make jelly with all at once? Thanks in advance.

EG: We freeze raspberries in small batches all the time to save them up for jam making. I don't know why that wouldn't work for grapes as well. Just put them in a ziplock and freeze them, adding grapes as they mature. There is no special way to freeze things. You just freeze them. Don Yellman, Great Falls, VA

jellyman - Thanks for your input! I'll try it, and see how it does - because they are already falling on the ground under the vines. EG

Here in S.C. I picked wild muscadine for jelly all my life. When mother could not find time to make jelly or was short on supply. She would cook the grapes squeeze the juice & freeze it. But never the whole grape cooked or uncooked. Later she would make up the jelly. You can make jam too, but I do not like the cooked hulls & the seeds are bitter. I now grow hybrid muscadine.

How would one go about getting some cuttings from those "wild" vines? I am interested in the golden/bronze scuppernogs. Thanks

Also speaking from SC, I see hundreds of wild muscadines fruiting in season but I'm not sure I've ever seen a golden one like Scupperning. All are the very dark blue.
