Maybe Monsanto will develop a fully resistant tree that makes it's own insecticide. It won't be harmful to us and would drive the cost of apples down so low we'd be using perfect Honeycrisps for cattle feed. The insecticide wouldn't harm them either. It could be Round-Up Ready so we could clear the weeds and grass from beneath without fear. Self pollinating of course, who needs bees? Scorpions with wings I tell ya'. They could map out the growth trigger gene and using biotech science figure out how to turn that growth off at just the right time. No sir...no pruning needed here my friend. These apples won't brown when cut nor rot, no matter how long their kept. Nutritive value? All the goodness of old timey apples, but genetically fortified with previously unavailable things like protein, calcium and a full days supply of all vitamins and minerals. Critters won't bother them because they were developed to emit a gaseous substance critters find detestable...so strong that small animals like the squirrel will fall dead if he sniffs about too long. Won't harm humans though...you got Monsanto's good word on that. No processing issues here either folks...each and every apple is a precise duplicate of one another...in every way...size, color, shape...exact clones. Just what the apple industry always dreamed of. Well, dream no more ladies and gents, your friends at Monsanto has delivered the goods yet again. Color? Candy Apple Red of course...and with metal flake too!
