I'd like to pass on a book recommendation. I know it's not the time for reading right now as we are all so busy, but this book has so many recipes for uncommon fruit that I had to pass it along. I was able to borrow it from my local library but I found it while doing a Google search. I am posting here rather than the harvest forum because we're all addicted to fruiting plants:) Recipes for buffaloberries, cattails, chokecherries, groundcherries, lambsquarters, mulberries, and sandcherries to name a few.

She lists frosted juneberry puffs, jam, pie, juneberry-rhubarb sauce, topping, and how to dry them. I haven't read the whole book yet but it looks like a good read. She gives details on how to identify plants in the wild, history of how they were used by pioneers, and stories she has heard from old-timers.

Sorry, just May-apple listed. I remembered the thread earlier this year that discussed the Globe apple. It may be that the author of this book mentioned, Kay Young, would have some idea of this illusive Globe apple. The inside book cover says she is a naturalist for the Chet Ager Nature Center in Lincoln NE.

Thanks, not my area, but we have a lot of those plants here too. I often forage for fruits. This year I collected wild red and black raspberries, wild mulberries, and wild blackberries. I also found some elderberries, but they were not many of them, so left them, I have found this book useful, also the companion cookbook
