Korean Giant

I want to grow a Korean Giant Pear tree also known as Dan Bae. I was wondering how it would pollinate. I do already have a pear tree but it is American. Also how long will it take before it bears fruit ?
Also when will I receive it? And can i just replant a store bought Korean Giants seed.

Plant bare root next spring about Febr in KS. You should get fruit starting about year 3 maybe 4. I'm not sure if KG is self fertile but probably is.

RE: Korean Giant

Some say Asian pear can cross pollinate with other pears as long as they bloom at the same time. With the ridiculous amout of fruit that a KG sets, I don't think pollination would be an issue.

I don't know what zone Tom is in. Mine is 6 a. I usually ask a nursery to send me bare root trees around mid April. Most years, by then, snow is gone and soil is softer in my area . I don't like digging hard dirt (and rock) in freezing weather!!
