Brand new to gardening...please help.

Hello everyone,
I live in Baltimore and I am very new to gardening. Three weeks ago, I purchased fig trees from Home Depot (I don't know the specific variety). When I purchased, one of the plant looked healthy and had small figs; its about 5' tall. I plotted it in the ground where it gets full day of sun. I have been watering it (when my moisture meter tells me that the soil is not as moist as it should be) and pinching. The figs have increased in size. However, some of the leaves have white dust spots with discoloration and the at the back of several leaves, there is a reddish/purple tinge that wasn't there before. I will attach pictures. I posted on the fig forum, but didn't receive any responses, so I am hoping some of your kind folks can help me.
1. Do the white spots look like white mildew fungus? It has been humid and very cloudy here for the past couple of days with the temperature in high 70s/low 80s.
2. If it is fungus, would that also cause leaf discoloration?
3. Do you recommend neem oil spraying?

Thank you very much in advance!

I answered your last post without seeing this one. Neem oil prevents fungus, so spray it with neem. Figs don't like wet feet so let it dry out between watering.

The discoloration on the leaves is Fig Mosiac Virus. Most fig trees have it. It is not curable, and we all just shrug and live with it.

There is a fig forum here. You should post your photos there as well.

Good luck!

The discoloration is fig mosaic virus, FMV. It's very common and not worth concern. Under good growing conditions the discoloration will subside but the virus won't go away. Once infected always infected. Mine are as well and I ignore it.

Thank you desertdance and fruitnut. I really appreciate your responses. Btw, since I got this tree from Home Depot, I have no clue about it's variety. Do you have any thoughts? Thanks!
