A melon miracle!

I planted 9 melon plants--some seedless, some seeded--in a 4x8 box. Yes, I know. I left them all there, just to see what would happen.

What happened: sweet, sweet melons. So far, one seeded, and one seedless. There are several more.

The only reason I know they're ripe: I looked down, and the seeded one was cracked open. I thought it would be spoiled, but it wasn't. So then I cut open a seedless melon--just as pink, ripe, and juicy.

I won't ever put that many melon plants in a small raised bed again, though.

Oh my - what a lovely surprise! What are the names that you planted? I'd love to try one one of these days. Enjoy!

They are all miracles to me! Don't you just love it when it works? Nature that is. . . I grew Charentais melons one very hot summer that were incredible. Melons love heat! Yours is a beaut! Mrs. G

They sure taste ripe!

The seedless was pink sorbet, from johnnys seeds...they sent a pollinator melon with it, but I can't remember the name of it.

The thing is, sometime you don't do anything to deserve the bounty you reap, and sometimes you do everything right and it's a massive fail. In a weird way, I love that about gardening. Heartbreak, surprise, delight. Always an adventure.
