Are you sure there is enough rain for AZ heat? We are 10F cooler and very seldom get enough rain even with all soil mulched and no vegetation between trees. The rain never lasts as long as I'd think. It's easiest to tell on crops like melons that wilt when they get dry.

Don't you think that the roses would show signs of not enough water, they are with in 5 ft. It is raining now has been since 2am. Rained last Fri&Sat that is only a 2day stretch with out water. The water is running off the roof hard and the side yard is turning into a lake. Thats how it has been all month I hope you are right and lack of not enough water is all it is. Thanks fruitnut

Get a rain gauge and you'll really know. If it's not about an inch a week it's probably not enough water. In the heat you probably need more. I don't know AZ weather, but even sometimes here on the east coast, we'll think "it rained" yet it was barely 0.1" and didn't even soak below the mulch!

Ok a rain gauge it is. We got so much rain in the last 10 hours that people had to be rescued from houses and cars We will more than likley be on the national news 5 inches in a matter of hours I have a lake under the fruit trees. It has stopped for now ---thanking the rain god.
