The berry looks like Aronia, but don't eat any yet until it's positively identified. Brady

Looks like Aronia to me, to - berry and leaf. I'd sample one. Heck, one berry ain't likely to kill ya. Commonly known as chokeberry - and for a reason. All I've had occasion to sample had some astringency - but they do make a nice vodka infusion - though there's still a nice bitter bite to it.

How do you know one berry won't kill you? If it's poisonous it could.
|
zackey, There are no fruits/berries THAT poisonous here, if anywhere. Tasty...unlikely to be toxic. Bland/tasteless, or bitter/unpalatable - may or may not be toxic. I'm a lifelong plantophile, and devotee of edible landscaping, as well as a veterinary pathologist with particular interest in toxic plants. I'm not scared to taste a berry or fruit. You don't have to, though, if you don't care to. Mushrooms, on the other hand... if it's not a morel or puffball, I'm not picking and eating it, even though there are other edible ones out there - I'm not comfortable with my mycological ID skills - and I've seen what the poisonous ones will do...
