Should I Keep the Wild Strawberry Plants?

Posted by achang89 Central NJ Z6b (My Page) on

I just planted the strawberry plants. Then I saw several wild strawberry plants came up in the same patch. I'm quite sure they are wild.

Should I keep them, or just yank them out? I remember seeing the wild one around, setting small fruits. I'm not sure.

Are you sure your wild ones are actual strawberries, or the introduced and flavorless "Indian" or mock strawberry?

Here is a link that might be useful: Duchesnia indica

I do not know what kind of strawberry it is. I'm sure it is strawberry. I did not plant those.

I've seen something like strawberry which sends out 1/2" shinny berries, just like tiny strawberry. Never tasted them.

Those wild ones tried to take over my patch. Easier now then when they have multiplied.
