Hello, I have a pomegranate tree in my front yard for almost 14 years. In the couple last years it started having holes on the fruits. Last year there were only a few holey fruits, but this year I think that I got from my harvest about 30 pomegranates and only 5 were OK to eat. I did see some bugs coming out of the holes when I harvested the fruits. In addition to having holes, I noticed they also started dripping juice and the juice gets really hard on the fruits. But the strangest part is when I was trimming this tree last year I found holes in the woody trunk! I really need some help because I was really disappointed to throw 25 pomegranates into the trash. (The black spots in the picture are the holes)

Can you ID the bugs? I get Leaffooted Bugs, but they are sucking insects and not borers. I place screen pouches over my pomegranates to keep bugs and rodents off of them.

Hi, I can't ID the bugs because I don't remember their look, and I think the bugs don't come from the air, but they come from the trunk itself.. As you can see that is a picture from a couple of days ago, and there is a hole in the trunk itself, and I'm 95% sure it's not the water conducting tube (however you call it). So the bugs not only eat the fruit but also the trunk. I'm not sure if it's the same bug that eats the fruit who also eats the trunk.
