I brought a 5 foot peach tree yesterday at lowes. Im gonna plant it today.
I was wondering if it will get fruit on it next year?
How tall do they need to be and how should i prune it?
It has the tall leader and several branches that are coming from it.

Thanks in advance!

You might get a few fruit but the first two years are better spent growing a strong properly shaped tree. Most grow them as an open vase so as to keep the center from shading out.

If those branches are at the right height, have strong crotch angles, and aren't all bunched together, you can cut off the leader and have your open vase.

DO follow fruitnut's advice.
