My friend has 3 Asian pear trees and they decided to get rid of the one in the middle of their garden. The tree casts shade to the things they grow in the garden.

I believe the tree was purchased about 3 years ago as container plant from local nursery. So the tree itself is about 6 years old. The caliper is about 3" diameter. I tasted the fruit and I remember it tastes good. I do not know the variety. They should know it.

Should I dig it up and transplant it to my yard? To do that, I'll have to cut some of the branches and dig up the root or rootball. Then I'll need to wait for the tree to grow back the roots.

Is this too much trouble? Not sure if it is worth my time and effort to do so. I can just order a bare-root tree for about $20.
