I had Fuji on G16 here for 6 years freestanding and no anchorage or breaking problems. The trees were very nearly the same size as M26. I took the trees out because I got tired of Fuji not for any rootstock issues. On both rootstocks the trees had good crops every year including the 2nd leaf. The 2nd leaf crop was one of my best ever, about 25 apples per tree.
I had a G30 snap from incompatibility with a Kidds Orange Red. Happened when tree was mature and about 7 years old. Not that this says anything about the other Geneva rootstocks but incompatibility can be variety specific so you take your chances with new rootstocks that have not been widely tested when you grow unusual varieties.
Fruitnut, I like how you say you stopped liking Fuji. Same thing happened to me. Don't know if my tastes changed or expanded. Surprised you didn't graft them to something else.
Bruce, Cummins Nursery is quite forthcoming about the shortcomings of the Geneva rootstocks, and they have more experience with these than anyone else. Shoot them an e-mail. Misterbaby.
I had one G11 break last winter in the big snow that weighed down trees. Definitely a trial for any rootstock. None of the G16 or G30 had any problems; they were above the snow since they were older, bigger trees.
