I have five hybrid hazelnuts and many wild types. The hybrids are Jefferson, Halle's Giant, Royal, Barcelona and Doris. I plan to grow these as trees and need to cut back the extra stems to achieve that goal. Since these are propogated by layering in one manner or another, I was thinking of trying to do that instead of just wasting the extra growth. Anyone have experience with that and useful tips?
