| Planted 5 apple trees five years ago - not successful. Every year I end up with scarred apples and blotched leaves. I am uploading photos of a typical leaf and a typical apple. This year I noticed black flies when the trees were in blossom. I sprayed them with soapy water, but think it might have been too late.
Any advice for next year appreciated (in Ireland) |
Follow-Up Postings:

| In a wet cool climate my first guess would be apple scab. If that is the case you need to spray the proper fungicides starting during bloom. |
|
| Do you get birds pecking at your developing fruit? Some of that damage looks like scab, but some looks like scarring. |
|
| Thanks for the information. I will check it out and look into it |
