Deformed Pears - Stony Pit?

I bought a house about a year and a half ago that has a pear tree in the back yard. Last year probably 90% of the fruit was deformed and this year the fruit fell much earlier and is even worse than last year. Very few have a traditional 'pear shape'. Most look like the picture posted.
I know little to nothing about fruit trees, so any help is appreciated. If I need to remove this tree I'd like to do it now instead of in the spring.
Thanks in advance!
