Most of the Asian pears are ready by this time. But regions and weather vary. How can you tell the pears are ready to pick off the tree?

I grab it and with a slight twist and slight pulling at the same time it should come off if its ready Or you can wait for a bird to peck it or you can wait for one to fall on the ground but the last two I wouldn't really do.

A standard trick is shine a flashlight at night, if it looks clear under the skin they are ripe. I go by looks, with enough experience you can pick out the degree of yellow/brown to know when a given variety is ripe. Scott
