Sick Fig Tree

Posted by jpseeley none (My Page) on

I don't know what kind of fig tree it is; it is my mother's tree.

The leaves curl inward, turn yellow, die and fall off.

One problem could be that the fertilizer spikes were placed up against the trunk of the tree, not 30 or more inches away, as is recommended. The spikes were planted in the soil about two months ago. However, the problem with the leaves started before the fertilizer was applied. Anyone have any idea of what the problem might be, and how to correct it?

There real experts on Fig forum at top page click Fig you be there. To thing fig tree needs is lime and 10-10-10 a balance complete fertilizer same as garden veg. In early spring half fertilizer and half lime are pound to pound of each. I use 5 pounds fertilizer and 5 pounds lime and mix well spread under but not close to trunk make spread beyond drip line plant. This make good crop and feed foliage all summer. Water plant if in dry soil keep grass weed out from under tree just water if dry once week 5 gallons.
