I have a peach growing and producing in a container. Problem, it's fast approaching first frost and they're not ripening. I think because it's been so da..m cold all summer. Any suggestions on how to speed up ripening, so they don't go to waste?

Put them in the warmest, sunniest spot you've got. If a freeze threatens move to cover. That's about all you can do.

Just a follow up. I took two and placed them in a brown paper bag along with a banana. It works, two days later I have ripe peaches. Bit of a job to do a whole tree though!!!
|
Too soon to do that unless you don't expect any more heat and sun. The closer to normal maturity you can get the better eating quality will be.

You could also possibly roll it inside to a southern window then roll it out as soon as you harvest to allow it to get the necessary chill.

Thanks for the advice. Have placed it close to a South facing wall, should help.
