I've put in metal T-posts at each end of the rows (blackberries and other rubus vines). The posts are leaning "out" a bit to allow for pulling the wires tight without them bowing in. Now I've got wire and was going to add 3-4 wires on each row. Is there a trick to get the same tension for all of them? I was just looking in the fencing department but nothing looked right, and the staff were... useless. Thanks

T-posts into ground will not be rigid enough to prevent vertical movement when tightening wires. You may have to settle for wires with minimal sag, and that can be adequate for blackberries. Another option is to connect the post tops with wood or other material, than you can tighten the wires evenly. I use 2x2 cedar. It requires drilling into the post tops to add fasteners. The posts are spaced 5 feet apart. You could do 8 feet, longer than this and the top wood would bow (sag) too much unless it was 2x4. Some trellis makers use an internal (in between the posts) brace, perhaps at a 45-degree angle, to lessen the post leanings when tightening wires.

Earth anchors at the row ends are a great way to eliminate sagging of trellises.

I have always used turnbuckles to maintain wire tension. Inexpensive and easy to adjust as needed, when ever needed. Al

Fireweed, It depends on several factors. The longer the row the more strain and inward pull on the end posts. The anchors suggested work well. However, if your row is not too long, then just adding some additional support posts within the run should prove an easier and cheaper solution. Mike
