It's too bad it cracks as it is a nice peach. Funny as Thomas Jefferson grew it, was he not in VA?
Here in late summer it is super dry, so probably a good choice here.

They usually do no crack for me. My tree is very well draining, maybe that is a factor.

IF is my best late peach. Salwey is another good one but it is more a cooking peach.

I am growing Victoria here in Virginia and they seem to do well, this is the first year I have had such a huge crop. They should be ripening on the tree in the next few days. I have been bringing in a few to ripen on the counter over the last few days.

Scott, do you grow them?

Hoseman the only late peaches I have are heirlooms. I never really had the urge to put in too many as its apple season, but based on how my family seems to greatly prefer peaches I should probably add a few late ones.

Scott - my soil is well draining as well. This is very strange.

Is there any way to reduce the amount of cracking? Leave more peaches on the tree? Leave less peaches and more branches? More/less fertilizer?

Bart, my tree cracked more when it was younger -- it may grow out of it. I had a similar problem on my Wickson apple and I even cut down one of my two trees. The one I kept has not cracked for several years now. As trees get deeper roots they can get a more consistent water flow; too much water after a rain is the main cause of cracking.

I just picked the final round of peaches off the tree yesterday. I only had about 6, but none of them were cracked.
