I have some nylon netting that has been in the family for 40 or so years, but it's well past its prime. I'm wondering what materials and methods are currently considered the best for preventing deer and raccoons from eating all my concords for the third year in a row.
Follow-Up Postings:

Very secure netting for coons. But they remember those last three yrs just like you do. Trapping would be more effective for coon but you may already be too late to clear out all those that remember. For deer fencing. An electric fence goes up fast and could deter both. Needs to be properly constructed.

yep, only electric fence. cut the grass short, use multiple strands (suggest one ground wire under ground, and one wire every 5 inches up to 3 feet), and continuous (not pulsed) power. Raccoons will test it every night.

I had and will probably have again your same problem. The netting stops the birds, but not the mammals. When my grapes start getting ripe I put traps right under them (inside the fenced-in garden) and I've been pretty successful in getting 'coon after 'coon. Last year I got a ton (for me) maybe 8 or 10 raccoons. This year I didn't get a single one, but I got all my table grapes harvested without any attacks. I'm hoping that I lowered the population last year and the very cold winter helped lower it ever further.
