I have acquired 3 lemon trees - now what?

HI all!

So I"m over my concern with Legionaries and worm farms and have moved onto more productive things.

Lemon Trees.
My favorite 'food' is lemons, I can't get enough lemons, I eat about 3 a day - or the juice at least.
I have now acquired 3.

One I have planted in the garden, and it's flowering beautifully and i have two more that I might grow in pots as this house I do not own.

I'm wanting 'organic' methods to feed them.

I have been planting banana skins around them as i hear that helps, and from what I can tell, it definitely doesn't do any harm - what other 'foods,' or natural things can I put around the plant?

I've planted some companion plants, such as nasturtium and Borage, I'd like to avoid chemicals and potting mix.

Thanks so much!
Any tips would be wonderful.
I can't wait to have lemons and that means my neighbors can stop wondering how many times I"m stealing theirs!
;) x

check out the Citrus sub-forum, lots of informative people.

some of them use fish emulsion for fertilizer.

citrus are fairly heavy feeders. as far as companion plants, you really don't want anything growing with them in the same pot, or inground you'd want about a 2-3' radius cleared of any other plants/grasses/weeds.

If the neighbour is successfully growing lemons how about consulting them? They are better equipped to advise on your climate and soil since none of us here is in NZ.

Oh I see, I didn't realise the soil would be so different.

They just planted it, they don't do anything.
I will try look on a forum closer to NZ!
Thanks though.

Small amounts of coffee grounds. My seedling lemon is planted in about 20% pure coffee grounds. Alive and healthy in the same pot for about 6 years now. Just top dress and don't use too much because they shed water when dry in a thick layer.
They aren't acidic like everyone says...I've tested them however it was using questionable ph capsules.
