From the arbor day foundations website, I ordered...

1 belle of georgia peach, dwarf
1 red delicious apple, dwarf
1 yellow delicious apple, dwarf
1 bartlett pear, dwarf
1 orient pear, dwarf

Has any one ordered from here? Is it a good place to order from?

Hi Semaje-
Before ordering from any online nusery, make sure to check them out at the Garden watchdog site. I'd provide you a link, but last time I did this, the moderators removed my post for some reason. (But they haven't removed my posts like this) So... to check out any nursery, just Google the name of the nursery, and the word "Scoop". So... Google "scoop arbor day foundation". I've never ordered from them before. But, their rating looks a bit poor at 49 positives, 41 negatives. Some other nurseries that you'd see recommened here would have ratings like 80/0, 15/1, 23/1, 36/1, etc. Hope it works out ok for you.

Good Question !

I've ordered just about all your selections and.....

Here's what I ordered:
1 - Red Delicious
1 - Bartlett pear
1 - Orient Pear
1 - Montmorency Cherry
1 - Sweet Bing cherry
1 - Hall's Hardy Almond
1 - Golden(Yellow) delicious apple
1 - Jonathan apple

Of this selection, All dwarfs, I got quite a mix up.
My Hall's Hardy Almond turned out to be a golden jubilee peach. The red delicious apple is not dwarf. The Montmorency cherry had a bad grafted rootstock so the tree produced pea sized cherries & where hard as a rock. The Bing cherry tree turned out to be just like the Montmorency cherry. My Golden delicious tree is about 8 years old and decent sized, has not produced yet nor has the Jonathon apple. And finally the Bartlett & Orient pears are semi dwarf and have not produced yet either. They get flowers, however no bees to help pollination. This year I'm a new honey bee keeper, that should change.

Does this answer your question ?

Good. Arbor Day is just eye candy for the price.

Suggestion: www.willisorchards.com

I get most of my fruit/nut trees from them and have a wonderful return policy. Order trees that are around 1-3 feet tall. Fall shipment is very soon, so hurry. Don't feel bad spending the $$, it's well worth it. Avoid TyTy nursery as their return policy is the worst and they run you through RED tape & charge for it.
I have some other tips and interesting info on my site. Click on the link and see for yourself...

If you had done a quick search on Gardenweb, you would have seen many threads about this subject and possible would have saved yourself some disappointment. Here's a link to Garden Watchdog's (the placed Glenn was talking about) page for The National Arbor Day Foundation:

http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/91/

As you can see, opinions vary, but it is certainly far far from the glowing reviews of many other nurseries. I personally wouldn't have taken the gamble.

Willis Orchards is another place that I wouldn't consider buying from. Their ratings are mediocre at best. Here is Garden Watchdog's rating for that company:

http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/6348/

I've also seen a few bad reviews for this company here on Gardenweb. There are many many many fruit tree nurseries out there with fantastic ratings and glowing reviews. I don't think there's any good reason to do business with one that's as poor as these two seem to be. You may get lucky and receive satisfactory results, but it's a gamble.

glenn_russell, they take down your links almost instantaneously but ask them to move on a spammer and npothing happens, for years, literally.

You know Brendan, up until recently, I think you were exactly correct, but lately they have been responding to my reports of spamming almost immediately. I've been shocked how fast they remove stuff once I report it. I sure hope they keep it up.

Brandon7,

Spamming definition: Spam is the abuse of electronic messaging systems. Nobody said anything about being given a FREE choice to click any links, especially if it's an option on the post. Some of us have nothing better to do than degrade others.

Maniac, I have no idea what you're trying to say (maybe you misread my post or something), but I was only reporting that I'd seen Gardenweb taking some quick action on spammers lately. Just trying to report some good news!

Maniac,

Oh, maybe you are thinking that I thought your link was SPAM. Actually, no, I hadn't even looked at your link. But, now that I do, I can see that it is SPAM (it appears to be your own personal advertising that has nothing to do with the topics being discussed).

If that's what you thought I was talking about, maybe you just have a guilty conscience, because I had no idea your link even led to SPAM. I hadn't even noticed it!

I wish every SPAMmer had a conscience. LOL
