| please tell me something about my persimmon. it is about 24 inches tall, it is from seed and I am not sure if it came from Fuyu or Hachiya persimmon fruit. somehow it survived ontario winter although it was very younge and small and not protected. This winter I plan to put some winter protectio, just a bit. I would like to know if it ever grows big will it produce any fruit without another persimmon and will fruit be edible. Please, write me as much as you can, Thank you all |

| Usually persimmons are either male or female; that is they produce either female flowers only or male flowers only although some may produce both and some occasionally produce flowers of the opposite type. If the plant ends up with female flowers it will likely produce fruit with or without a pollinizer. The fruit will certainly be edible but will very likely be an astringent type like Hachiya even if it came from the Fuyu. |
