I got a dwarf bruce plum tree from home depot about 6 weeks ago. I did not realize it needed another tree for pollination. I would also like to plant a krauter purple leaf plum for ornamental reasons. Could this tree also be used as a pollinator for the bruce plum?

No, they are two different species and not compatable. You need another Japanese plum to pollinate the Bruce (Prunus salicina).

It is possible; my Mariposa and Santa Rosa plums are pollinted by my neighbor's V plum. In fact, I have two hybrids between the two. First pic: Mariposa plum( seed parent) x Krauter vesuvious plum (Pollen parent).
