That will work. I've had three nectarines in a 12 gallon and all fruited starting 2nd leaf. I can pull up pic if you like but I've already posted several times so don't want to bore folks.

G5 works well in a pot because root growth is fairly slow. I had Van and Rainier in 12 gal 5 yrs and then sold the trees for $50 each so they still looked good. Full truth: A nursery sold them for $100 each and I got $50. Too much but I won't complain.

Leave as much root as fits comfortably and don't worry about overlap. Within a yr you won't be able to separate no matter what you do. Trees can be held to about 5ft easily.

Can you share what type of fertilizer you use? any soil amendments? fertigation?

I used both 21-0-0, a complete water soluable, complete controlled release, and fresh green summer pruning material. So lots of things will work. I mostly used what I had. Vigor was good, just what I wanted.
