I've not heard of Ashmead's Kernel nor Calville Blanc apples before reading this forum. Has anyone tried growing them in the Minneapolis area? The zones listed in many catalogs tend to stretch things a little. Northwoodswis

Maple Valley in Gillett, WI grows Ashmeads in Zone 4. Not exactly Minneapolis area. But I've tasted his Ashmeads at the local apple tasting. I thought they were pretty good, but not knock-your-socks-off awesome. I've never tasted Calville Blanc, not sure if he's got that one.

Thanks for that information. At least Gillett is the same latitude as the Twin Cities. Northwoodswis
